donna: www.livejournal.com/user/jaded_octopus, the second entry deals with canoe hehe. umm...i had a yukon potato+leek purée w/ sweet pea + mint hash soup to start, egg fettuccini with heirloom tomatoes and oyster mushrooms and basil sauce, and finally this AMAZING buttertart w/ cherry compote, chocolate sauce and a little scoop of ginger beer ice cream. i just copied all that from my livejournal hehe. anne got to go there for dinner?? i only went for lunch...
anyways, i just realized that i forgot to blog about nite market (july 15th + 16th @ metro square). umm...i might have mentioned this, but i joined power-unit, who runs asian nite market every year (it's only for 2 nites every year, donna...if they tried to do it anymore, i think all of us would die from exhaustion - it takes a lot of work to get it off the ground), and in particular, i'm part of the group who is organizing a competition called e3. our booth there that night was to promote the challenge, capture a few more applicants, and get money!!! we had a ring toss game that did pretty well - it involved roughly 625 beer bottles -, and we had a cotton candy machine going too. so donna - no, i wasn't selling lamb skewers =P our booth was pretty far away from the smelly tofu booths, which were at the very far end of the whole parking lot and we could STILL smell it strongly!!! it was the most disgusting thing ever. omg...i had to wash everything both nites to get rid of the smell. *shivers* it still lingers on in my memory...
the first nite, i was there for the set-up shift (4:30 - 7:30) and went for dinner with my parents a few blocks down @ kelsey's. their salad was pretty good ^___^. went back to actually see what was going on there. the food booths aisle was crammed with ppl. it was completely crazy...and the smelly tofu ones had line-ups that were incredible.
second nite, i was there for set-up again...stayed from 5:30 to 11:30. we loved our sponge bob prize that nobody's been able to win...and we got really used to yelling "$5 a bucket!" and "$1 for 5 rings" hehe. it was fun all the same...and we actually did make some money off of our game. the rain that lasted until 8:00-ish was a real drag...but once that was over, everything ran as scheduled. it was really fun (except for the tofu part) =)
