wednesday was the day project 2 was due for arc221. i was pretty exhausted from drafting basically non-stop the past two days, but the day in general went pretty well. i had to run from english @ UC down to the architecture faculty again *sigh* it's always such a rush!
by the time i got there, there were enough chairs for all of us, for once, and most of the ppl had their drawings all pinned up. pauline helped me pin mine up 'cuz mine were all vertically oriented, and i had to start pinning them up fairly high up in order to fit them all in a column down the wall. lol my pair looked really yellow next to the white walls, and it was the most yellow out of all the drawings. the pad said that it was "natural white" - pfft.
then we all gathered in a cluster while maria and josh went around the room and examined each set of drawings, giving us feedback. it was awesome ^____^ so relaxed, and none of the comments were bad, really. sure, there were some mistakes, but they pointed them out very nicely and instead of saying "you're wrong" they were always phrasing it as "i think it would go better if these lines were darker here, and those were lighter here", etc. almost all of our drawings were too light. lol one guy said he disagreed with the need for such dark lines because it was ridiculous that anybody would wanna look at a plan from 15 feet away anyways. maria said that his main issue was then an ideological one lol...he needs to mentally overcome his objections to dark lines.
there were some ppl who drew their obliques at an angle :S they didn't rotate the plan, and extended the "verticals" 30 degrees off instead. wow...they were interesting. i can't believe they managed to do that. it looks...er...confusing, even though the construction was probably right. anyways, it was awesome getting so much positive feedback, and it was pretty funny too, i mean, there was nothing stiff of formal about it. ^______^ i'm so happy i'm in this section and not the morning one. i keep hearing about how urban's sooo mean. he actually told a student that if they wanted to go see a crappy drawing, they should go to so and so >-< i hope i never ever get him as a prof. he's not even an architect!!
thursday was blah...i had to hand in my first physics problem set, which is probably all wrong. but meh...i can only do so much. after physics, i went to meet up w/ fatima @ the bahen centre, examined my site for project 3, and then we headed off to the bookstore so that she could pick up her ipod. they took soooo long to find it for her -_-* anyways, afterwards we went to alicos and photocopied some pages from my copy of reyner banham's the well-tempered environment 'cuz they ran out of stock and we need that book for arc231. then i went home and read like the deuce.
friday was kinda cool :) it was warm enough for me to wear my skirt ^___^ hehehehe *developing a skirt fetish* i loooove wearing skirts! they're so much FUN!!!
umm...okay, anyways, after physics and english, i had an hour before i was going to meet amy and jen, so i went to the bahen centre (again) and did some preliminary measurements and to the assu to get a scholarship application form. then i headed off to the eaton centre, got there early and looked around a bit before meeting up w/ them. i actually got pretty lost at first 'cuz i assumed all the floors were continuous, and they actually aren't. i ended up in some office building 0_o i haven't been to the eaton centre for a while.
we sat at the fountain and talked for a while, took a while to decide which movie we wanted to see, and finally narrowed it down to two ("first daughter" and "raise your voice"). then we went to the gap 'cuz jen needed to return a bag, and there we saw christine araujo, which was kinda cool 'cuz we haven't seen her for over a year! she's at ryerson, like amy! then we went to H&M, which is HUGE! it's got 3 floors O_O we saw jen ng and shellen there shopping too ^____^ of course, i had to look at skirts :D there's a really nice long jacket that i want, but umm...i think i'll get my mom to get it for me 'cuz i don't feel like spending that much in cash. credit cards are so much more convenient :D
jen managed to buy a couple of tops, and they gave her the hangers with them!! then we headed off to the sheppard grande to watch "first daughter" (we were too late to make "raise your voice"). there was a defect in the film (a bunch of white dots at the bottom centre of the screen), but it wasn't too disturbing.
my mom phoned during the movie -_-* amy's phone too. anyways, jen left for the ttc after the movie, and amy got a ride home w/ me. it was overall an awesome day :D
